Early Learning and Family Programs

Aboriginal Head Start Program - A program where parents are supported in their role as their child’s first and most influential teacher.

Aldergrove Family Place Drop In Program - A free play-based program for children ages 0-6 and their caregivers.

City of Langley Recreation, Culture and Community Services - Offers a variety of recreational programming for young children and their caregivers including arts and crafts, swimming, and parent-tot drop in programs.

Community Kitchens - For parents and caregivers of children up to the age of six years. Gather to learn basic kitchen skills that helps provide for the family while saving money.

Family Place South - A free play-based program for children ages 0-6 years and their caregivers. Located in Langley City.

Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society - A non-profit society who recognize a need for services to meet the needs of Aboriginal families.

Little Feathers Playgroup - Aboriginal playgroup for children newborn to six years. Together learn about Aboriginal Culture from a Kwantlen Elder through traditional teachings, drumming, songs, stories, circle time snack and more.

Fraser Valley Regional Library - Offers a variety of programs and services for families with young children, including borrowing of library materials, and activities such as Family Story time for toddlers and preschoolers.

PALS and IPALS Programs - PALS (Parents as Literacy Supporters) and IPALS (Immigrant Parents as Literacy Supporters) are family literacy programs that provides parents and caregivers new strategies to encourage learning with their preschool and kindergarten aged children.

Program in the Park - A drop in program offered through the summer at various local parks. Children’s activities and parent support and information is offered.

Spanish Family Power - Parents of young children are provided resources, information, support and activities to address various needs of the participants.

Township of Langley, Parks and Recreation - Offers a variety of recreational programming for young children and their caregivers including arts and crafts, swimming and parent-tot drop in programs.

Support for Parents

Aboriginal Mental Health Liaison Program - Provides mental health services to Aboriginal individuals and families residing in the Fraser region.

Best Babies of the Langleys - Offers nutritional support through pregnancy and weekly lunch clubs for new parents.

Encompass Support Services Society - Services include community outreach for families and children under the age of six years, on-site childcare for parents returning to school, family drop in programming, young parent support, parent and child educational programming and Best Babies programming.

Family Support Circle - Provides off-site support for families who have difficulties and multiple barriers to accessing services. Includes information and settlement assistance as well as accompaniment to government and non-governmental appointments.

Immigration and Settlement Services B.C. - Targeted programs for refugees, women, children and youth with support in over 45 languages. Services include career, settlement and languages.

Ishtar - Offers a twelve-bed facility that provides safe, temporary, emergency accommodation for women and their children leaving an abusive relationship.

Langley Community Services Society - Offers a variety of services for children and adults including counselling, parent outreach, workshops, Family Resource drop in programs, substance abuse program, and cultural and immigration programs.

Langley Health Unit - Offers public health nursing services including screening, assessment, counselling, referral and follow-up, speech and language pathology, audiology, nutrition, dental health, prenatal and postnatal services and childhood immunizations.

Langley Hospice Society - Provides free individual or group grief and bereavement counselling. Offers support groups for adults and children including children’s summer programs.

Langley Parents as Partners in Learning - Provides educational opportunities on topics of interest to parents.
Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society - A non-profit society who recognize a need for services to meet the needs of Aboriginal families.

Ministry of Child and Family Development - Dedicated to providing the following services for families in Langley including, intake and investigation, guardianship, youth justice, child and youth mental health and child and youth special needs and adoption.

Nobody’s Perfect - Parenting can be hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. Find support and encouragement you’ve been looking for at a Nobody’s Perfect program in your community.

Parent Outreach and Counselling - Offers educational and support programs and counselling services for parents and families.

The F.O.R.C.E. for Kids Mental Health - Provides families and professionals with information, tools and tips on how to support and assist children with mental health difficulties.

Xyolhemeylh Child and Family Services - Services provided include both child protection and prevention services.

Young Parent Support - Offers a variety of support services to pregnant and parenting youth and parents up to the age of 25 years.

Support for Young Children

Ishtar Transition House - Provides short term education, information and supportive counselling on an individual or group basis to children who have witnessed or experienced abuse.

Langley Child Development Centre - Provides a range of services required to support children and youth (birth - 19 years) with developmental delays and/or special needs.  Programs include the Infant Development Program (home visits, assessments, drop in playgroups), Supported Child Development Program (support in preschool and daycares) and Aboriginal Infant and Supported Child Development (home and centre visits as well as Aboriginal Family Nights and playgroups).

Reach Child and Youth Development Program - Offers a variety of programs designed to meet a wide range of developmental needs, including services for children and youth with autism.

SASS Program - Provides professional counselling, education and support for children and youth up to the age of 19 years who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual assault.

The Centre for Child Development - Helps children with the most complex and severe development disabilities. Using a multi-disciplinary approach that is tailored to meet each child’s unique circumstances, the centre provides therapy, care and support all under one umbrella.

Langley Association for Community Living - The Langley Association for Community Living supports over 400 children and youth with special needs and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
