The Langley Family Centre offers various fun drop-in and registered programs for young children and their parents / caregivers. Our programs support young children’s health, development and well-being. They are a great way for parents / caregivers to connect in their community.
This program is designed for permanent resident, refugee, and newcomer children aged 0 - 6 and their parent / care providers who face barriers to integration. The program provides a mix of child / caregiver interactive play experiences. Conversation / reading circles, community visits and parallel activities enable children and caregivers to focus on peer interaction and learning.
This free drop-in program provides Spanish speaking families with a local venue to meet other families in their community. A Spanish outreach worker facilitates a 2 hour program that includes activities and resources in a comfortable environment that supports family interaction.
This free play and learn drop-in program is for pre kindergarten children 0 - 5 years and their parent, grandparent, or caregiver. Adults and young children connect with others, learning and playing together in an early learning classroom. A snack is provided. StrongStart runs Monday - Friday from 1:00 to 4:00pm (excluding statutory holidays and School District Pro-Development days). You can register the first day you attend. Please bring your child’s birth certificate or passport.
For Aboriginal (self-identified, status, non-status) children aged 0-6 years and their parents/caregivers. The little Feathers Playgroup consists of free play, circle time, crafts, drumming, and snack. A local elder attends and provides traditional knowledge and support. A parent or caregiver must accompany children. Please drop-in, it’s free.
The City of Langley offers a variety of social development, sports, art and special events for young children and their families. Times and days vary with each activity. Registration and information is through the City of Langley website.
This is a free play program for children aged 0 - 6 years and their caregivers. Participants engage in various early learning activities such as dramatic play, song and story, expressive and creative art, along with a variety of toys and adaptive equipment.
A casual drop-in environment where babies (0 - 12 months), parents, and soon-to-be parents can play and learn. The drop-in features a new community guest speaker each week. No registration is required. This program is offered in partnership with the City of Langley. This program is offered in 2 locations: Wednesdays at Douglas Recreation Centre from 9:45-10:45am and Fridays at the Willoughby Elementary Family Centre from 10:30-11:30am.
